Robert A. Simon, Ph.D.

Robert A. Simon, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of California. He maintains a private practice in San Diego, California.

He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1986, a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1983 and a Master's Degree in Child Psychology in 1980. His Bachelor's degree in general psychology was earned in 1978.

Dr. Simon has life long interests in children's issues and conflict resolution with his commitment to understanding relationships and families. He has combined these into a passion for helping adults and children handle the complex and puzzling transition that is divorce. In his work, Dr. Simon functions as a Collaborative Divorce Coach, court appointed evaluator, court appointed mediator and parenting coordinator. He is also regularly called upon as a consultant in difficult divorce matters and is known for his creative and solution-focused approach to complex problems.

A sought after speaker and teacher, Dr. Simon has presented at numerous professional conferences in the United States, Canada and Europe. Dr. Simon is a qualified Collaborative Divorce trainer working with Collaborative Divorce Team Trainings teaching other professionals the skills of peacemaking in the divorce process. Dr. Simon is the only Ph.D. on the mediation panel of the National Center for Conflict Resolution where he focuses on divorce and child custody mediation. He is also a trainer with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), specializing in helping expert witnesses improve their courtroom skills and attorneys improve their skills of direct and cross examination. Along with Debora Moskovitch and James Stoffman, Dr. Simon is currently working on a book related specifically to second divorces. Dr. Simon is the father of two adult children and, himself, experienced divorce when his children were school aged. Therefore, he brings to his work many years of professional experience plus the personal experience of divorce.
